Injuries, stress and even the stress of sitting at the desk all day can wreak havoc on your lower back. This Physical Therapy Talk teaches you stretching and strengthening exercises for managing and avoiding back pain.

 BALANCING ACT: FALL PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT
As you get past the age of 65, it not only becomes easier to lose your balance and fall it becomes much more dangerous when you do. As a matter of fact, falls are the number one reason why older Americans visit emergency rooms, and they’re one of the leading causes of accidental death for seniors. With that in mind, it’s more important than ever to know if you’re at risk for falling, how to prevent any future falls, and how to condition your body to become less prone to risk.

KEEPING YOUR PLAYERS IN THE GAME: INJURY PREVENTION IN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL
Understanding Shoulder and Elbow bio-mechanics of the youth athlete is the key to a successful season. The lecture will include the bio-mechanics and common problems associated with the overhead athlete. Video Motion Analysis of college, pro and youth pitchers will be reviewed. Performance Improvement and Injury Prevention Programs will be discussed as well.

JOINT VENTURES: STRATEGIES FOR LIVING WITH ARTHRITIS
Learn how joints work, and the benefits of exercise to joint health. Discussions include osteoarthritis versus rheumatoid arthritis, tips for managing arthritis, arthritis prevention, exercise and knowing your exercise limitations.

SECRETS OF THE AGING ATHLETE
Acting your age doesn’t mean dropping your fitness program. This Physical Therapy Talk reviews the changes that occur in our body as we age, and gives athletes tips for adapting to these changes.

PAIN-FREE CYCLING
Cycling should be a pain-free activity. Unfortunately many cyclists, whether riding on the road, trail or in a class complain of neck, low back, knee pain or numbness. Your aches and pains are telling you something about your bike fit. This lecture reviews the most common discomforts associated with cycling and what to do about them.

 SWIMMERS’ EXCLUSIVE: CORE STABILITY AND SHOULDER STABILITY
Exercises for competitive swimmers from one of the leading experts on Physical Therapy for this sport. PT Works owner Matt Wren swam competitively for 15 years. He competed at the 1984 Olympic Trials and was a swimming coach for six years so he brings a special combination of talents to your training program. Matt has produced a two video set on the exercises he designed specifically for competitive swimmers, and he has spoken at swimming conferences around the country on this topic. The exercises in this Physical Therapy Talk address both the competitive advantages and injury-reducing potential of stabilization.
